Documentary
‘TSAI: Feedback Control’ is a 17-minute documentary that weaves together archival footage, images, writings, and new videos of Tsai’s cybernetic sculptures to chronicle Tsai’s life and work. It includes interviews with nearly two dozen of Tsai’s contemporaries—ranging from fellow artists, art historians, curators, writers, and friends—in order to document not only Tsai’s pioneering achievements in the post-war era, but the obstacles he overcame as a Chinese immigrant pursuing the arts in the United States. Some of those interviewed include Jasia Reichardt, Peng Chang-Ming, Pan Gong-kai, Chou Wen-Chung, Jonathan Benthall, and James Seawright.
